Most newlyweds don’t spend their first years together in the midst of a battlefield, but for
Studio One alumni Virginia Lloyd and her husband, Maurice, the war-torn nation of Iraq was their home for the first three years of their marriage.
Lloyd was an intern with Studio One for seven consecutive semesters, working in a half a dozen different positions during her internship, including everything from a photographer to the show’s news anchor.
Right out of college Lloyd got an internship working on Capitol Hill, writing press releases for Congressman Earl Pomeroy’s Press Secretary that were published on his government Web site. “Studio One prepared me for my job on Capitol Hill by providing me with the opportunity to fine-tune my writing skills, compile concise and compelling stories, and multi-task to insure deadlines were always met,” she explains.
Lloyd thought she might enjoy working as a Press Secretary, or in an entry level position at a news station in Washington D.C. when she was done with her internship. However, fate had a different plan for her on the other side of the globe
